exceptional
We stayed for 2 nights (a Wednesday and Friday) at Rose Cottage in Fort Augustus whilst on a cycling trip. We give it Top Marks all round! We arrived late in the evening, wet, cold and muddy. Dorothy and Tim set up a clothes rack for us to hang our wet gear, and provided lots of newspapers for us to stuff our shoes to help dry them out. The double room was exceptionally clean, spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed the homemade shortbread and a hot cup of tea. Breakfast the next day was good sized and good quality, we even had vegetarian sausages! As we were due back the following evening, we agreed with Dorothy that we would re-use our bed linen to save the environment – something we feel passionately about, and she kindly did this for us, which we appreciated. When we returned on the Friday, again cold, wet and muddy, we were helped to dry our gear and along with shortbread, had cheesy scones to cheer us up! We were also able to use the garage on both occasions to store our bikes. The breakfast room is large, light and airy, and there is a very large communal sitting room for guests which we did not use, but was nice to have. We left two items behind by accident, which Dorothy swiftly returned to us by post. It is an easy and short walk to the shops and restaurants from Rose Cottage. The service was excellent, so nice to meet Dorothy and Tim. The cottage was immaculately clean, and food delicious. We highly recommend – this was the best place we stayed during our trip and best value for money. We would certainly stay there again when back in Fort Augustus.
