North Coast 500 Business Description

Castle of Old Wick dates back to the 12th century, which makes it one of the earliest castles in Scotland and certainly one of the best preserved Norse fortifications.

The castle is well signposted off the A99 in the centre of Wickmaking it an ideal stop off from the North Coast 500. Signposts lead you to the shore road, heading south to a small car park at the end of the road.

From here, there is an obvious trail that leads along the cliffs to the castle, around 800 yards away. The going underfoot is very easy, so you really can't miss the castle; it can be seen from quite a long ways away.
