Ardvreck Castle ruins is a spectacurarly scenic ruined fortress set in a magnificent location, Ardvreck Castle dates back to around the 15th-16th century and is in the design of an L-plan fortified tower house, It is the traditional seat of the MacLeods of Assynt.

The castle was originally constructed by Angus Mor III around the late 15th century, possibly in 1490. That first castle was a simple rectangle, which was 3-4 storeys high.
